I have been informed about the nature of the Program in which I wish to volunteer and, after gaining knowledge of the Program, I still wish to be a volunteer.<br \/>\n2. In consideration of being permitted to participate as a volunteer in the Program, I release and discharge the Sheriff, Douglas County, Kansas, their successors, agents, elected and appointed officials, and employees (collectively hereinafter the \u201cReleased Parties\u201d) from any and all injuries, damages, costs and liability of any kind arising from or related to my participation as a volunteer in the Program, whether or not caused or contributed by the actual or alleged negligence of any of the Released Parties, including any and all injuries I may sustain as a result of the negligence or other wrongful conduct of any inmate or any family member of an inmate with whom I work in connection with the Program. This covenant shall bind my estate, my dependents, my heirs, and my personal representatives.<br \/>\n3. In signing this Release, I rely wholly upon my own judgment and knowledge of the nature of my decision to participate in the Program. I have not been influenced to any extent whatsoever in signing this Release by any representations or statements made by any of the Released Parties.<br \/>\n4. I promise to maintain the dignity of the inmates with whom I associate, including respect for their privacy, property, family and friends. I agree to abide by rules that the Sheriff or other representatives of the Facility may establish from time to time. As a volunteer, you are expected to conduct yourself in a professional manner. This includes behaviors and appearance. It is expected that you always follow the direction of officers.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>2. Information obtained or discussed during a group should remain confidential except for the Volunteer identifying that an inmate is indicating causing harm to themselves or others, inmate disputes, inmate rule violations, missing or broken program supplies, any concerns which compromise the safety and security of the facility. This information should be reported directly to the pod officer.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>3. Programming must start and end on time. No exceptions. Late arrival may result in group being cancelled.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>4. Do not accept collect calls from inmates or make calls on their behalf.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>5. Do not answer personal questions about yourself or your family. Do not exchange personal information.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>6. Rumors, hearsay, negative comments about the facility, inmates or staff will not be exchanged with any inmates.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>7. NO physical contact. This includes handshakes and hugging.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>8. While volunteering here you cannot visit any individual inmate housed in this facility. (Contact Programs Director to be placed on temporary inactive status if such visits are needed).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>9. Do not communicate with anyone at the request of the inmate OR communicate with inmate at the request of an outside party.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>10. Do not carry anything out of the jail for an inmate. Never mail or hand deliver any item.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>11. Do not provide stamps or anything of value to inmates. Never put money into inmate accounts.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>12. All religious and other printed materials intended for inmates must go through the Program Coordinator for distribution. These must be requested a minimum of 24 hours in advance<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>13. All electronic devices are prohibited. This includes cell phones, laptops, tablets, etc.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>14. Any verbal or physical altercations among inmates will be immediately reported to the pod officer. If you become aware of any potential inmate self-harm or threats to others it is essential that you report this to a staff member before departing the facility.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>15. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in termination from the volunteer program.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>16. Outside requests for information pertaining to an inmate or facility activity must be directed to the Administrative Captain and\/or Reentry Director.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>17. If a code is called during your group - Stay put, stay calm, and follow direction of the Pod Officer.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>18. If a code is called while you are entering or leaving the facility \u2013 stop where you are and wait for direction from an officer.
