Those letters that reach the facility after an inmate has been released will be returned to sender.<\/li><li>Only letters sent by the U.S. Postal Service will be accepted.<\/li><li>No hand delivered notes will be accepted.<\/li><li>Inmates are prohibited from corresponding or receiving mail from another inmate in the facility or any other correctional facility or secured treatment center.<\/li><li>All non-privileged mail will be opened for contraband.<\/li><li>All non-privileged mail containing information as it relates to safety and security of the facility remains subject to Correctional Facility and are on site 7 days a week.<\/article><\/div><\/div><\/div><article><\/article><div class=\"rt-component-block rt-block\"><div id=\"rt-mainbody\"><div class=\"component-content\"><article class=\"item-page\"><ul><li>A medical screening questionnaire is completed when arrestee\/inmate is brought into the facility.\u00a0 Recent injuries, chronic medical problems, as well as acute illnesses, are addressed at this time.<\/li><li>Physicals are performed on each inmate within 14 days of custody.<\/li><li>Prescription medications are confirmed through the arrestee\/inmate&#8217;s personal physician, hospital, and or clinic.\u00a0 These\u00a0physician approved medications are reviewed by\u00a0our facility physician and\/or psychiatrist, and initiated if\u00a0doctor approved.<\/li><li>Over the counter medications are provided as necessary.<\/li><li>Diabetic testing is continued by medical staff when ordered by the physician.<\/li><li>Other specialty treatments\/areas include &#8211; EKG (heart tracings), wound care, breathing treatments, IV therapy and laboratory testing.<\/li><li>Medical referrals to appropriate specialists, (dentist, physical therapy,\u00a0oncologist, etc&#8230;) are offered when the\u00a0clinic physician deems necessary.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>COMMITMENTS<\/strong><\/p><p>Those who have been committed to the correctional facility through a scheduled court order, for any period of time, may preregister through medical.\u00a0\u00a0If\u00a0wishing to preregister so that medications and treatment are continued, please do the following:<\/p><ul><li>Contact your doctor(s).<\/li><li>Notify doctor(s) that they need to coordinate with Douglas County Correctional Medical date.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON COMMUNICABLE DISEASE<\/strong><\/p><p>Communicable diseases are addressed in three ways within the Douglas County Correctional Facility:<\/p><ul><li>Prevention\/education of staff.<\/li><li>Reporting\/disease tracking of inmate illnesses.<\/li><li>Education of inmates.<\/li><\/ul><p>General education on Communicable Disease Transmission Prevention within the Douglas County Correctional Facility:<\/p><ul><li>Visual detection of or if an inmate is complaining of a wound, open sore, bug bite, and\/or drainage, swelling or blood with open sore then notify medical unit immediately.<\/li><li>Officers are to always wear gloves.\u00a0 Gloves, vinyl or latex, are to be worn when having any contact with an inmate.\u00a0 All inmates should be considered potentially contagious whenever direct contact is anticipated with blood, body fluids, non-intact skin and mucous membranes.<\/li><li>Practice good hand hygiene.\u00a0 Adequate hand hygiene is the simplest effective infection control measure for preventing and containing infections.\u00a0 Hands should be washed for at least 15 seconds using warm soap and water.<\/li><li>Staff and Inmates are to utilize cleaning solutions provided within the facility for general cleaning and sanitation of any areas that could have been contaminated.<\/li><\/ul><\/article><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div
