IT Network Administrator (Sheriff’s Office) – Job ID: 26-017

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a skilled and mission-driven IT Network Administrator to support and enhance the technology infrastructure that underpins public safety operations. This role is critical to maintaining secure, reliable systems that serve law enforcement, detention operations, emergency communications, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where uptime, security, and accuracy directly impact community safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network and Systems Administration.
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches, routers, and wireless systems.
  • Administer virtualized environment (VMware) and associated storage systems.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of mission-critical systems, including public safety technology support.
  • Maintain secure connectivity for mobile data terminals, in-car systems, and field-deployed devices.
  • Assist with body-worn camera, digital evidence, and security video infrastructure as needed.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and system changes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in network or systems administration.
  • Proficiency with networking technologies (Cisco).
  • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP.
  • Understanding of virtualization platforms and storage systems.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and maintain CJIS compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in public safety, government, or 24/7 operational environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD/RMS/JMS systems (e.g., Spillman Flex, Motorola, etc.).
  • Knowledge of security camera systems, access control, or digital evidence platforms.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Security+, VMware VCP, or Microsoft certifications.

Must pass a mandated background investigation and drug screening. On-call schedule may be required on a rotating basis.

Starting pay is $41.03 – $59.51/hr with excellent benefits which include:
